When JW Marriott Reston Station opened its doors on Sept. 16, 2025, it marked Virginia’s first hotel operated under the JW Marriott brand — a milestone that carried particular resonance given the brand’s roots just across the Potomac in Washington, D.C. For Comstock Holding Cos., the opening was the culmination of a decadeslong effort to build a world-class, transit-oriented destination at Reston Station, one of the region’s largest mixed-use communities of its kind.
The 28-story hotel, built by Davis Construction and designed by Nunzio Marc DeSantis Architects and WDG Architecture, rises above the Wiehle-Reston East Station on Metro’s Silver Line. Part of the $1.3 billion Reston Row phase of Reston Station, the JW Marriott contains 247 luxury hotel rooms and 94 JW Marriott-branded condominium residences, with interiors by Michael Graves Architecture and Design and EDG Design.
The property introduces JW Marriott’s Mindful Rooms concept to the market — wellness-focused accommodations outfitted with natural textures, soft lighting and an alcove stocked with a yoga mat, light weights and recovery tools.
The hotel also features more than 40,000 square feet of meeting and event space, including an 11,700-square-foot ballroom with 20-foot ceilings capable of hosting up to 1,300 guests. Three distinct dining concepts and a JW Club round out the property, operated by Crescent Hotels & Resorts.
Public art is woven into the property’s identity from the outside in. Anchoring the entrance is “Building Bridges,” a commissioned sculpture by Italian artist Lorenzo Quinn featuring six pairs of interlocking hands representing friendship, wisdom, help, love, faith and hope — a work that positions the hotel as a cultural landmark as much as a hospitality destination. Comstock Chairman and CEO Chris Clemente says the project “elevates the region’s hospitality landscape” while honoring Reston’s founding vision of integrated community life.
