General Dynamics business unit wins $42.6M contract modification

The U.S. Navy awarded Fairfax-based General Dynamics Mission Systems a $42.6 million contract modification to continue work on sustaining integrated combat management systems and associated platforms used by the branch’s littoral combat ships, the Department of Defense announced Wednesday.

General Dynamics Mission Systems is a business unit of Reston-based defense contractor General Dynamics Corp. Under the contract modification, the company will support ship operations by maintaining and upgrading the ships’ integrated combat systems, according to the DOD. 

The company will also provide other services including engineering, fleet support, installation, technical support, training and logistics product development.

Work on the contract will be performed in Alabama, California and Massachusetts through October 2021. The Navy obligated $1.2 million from fiscal year 2020 funds.

General Dynamics Corp. is a Fortune 500 aerospace and defense contractor with products in business aviation, combat vehicles, weapons systems and munitions, IT services, C4ISR solutions and shipbuilding and ship repair. The company employs 100,000 people worldwide and reported $39.4 billion in revenue last year.
