Shortly after joining Virginia Tourism Corp. in 2021, Roberts developed a statewide business case and funding model that ensured all 133 Virginia localities received recovery resources during the pandemic. The General Assembly adopted the framework, enabling the state’s destination tourism marketing arm to double its national marketing reach. Fun fact: He’s the youngest member of VTC’s executive leadership team.
KEY TO MY SUCCESS: Knowing your audience is essential. Different fields, sectors and even regions operate with different priorities and lenses, and success often comes from bridging across those differences.
SOMETHING SURPRISING ABOUT ME: I’m deeply passionate about history. My great-uncle landed on Omaha Beach with the 1st Infantry Division on D-Day. Over the course of several months, I used his diary, archival research and support from museums in the U.S. and France to document his day-to-day movement through Normandy in the summer of 1944. This past year, my wife and I retraced his steps, visiting the exact locations he passed through.
