Sandberg Development, a Swedish investment company, plans to build its United States headquarters in Prince William County‘s Innovation Park, creating an expected 32 jobs and investing $43 million.
Sandberg currently operates four government contracting companies based in Prince William, including Aimpoint, a company that produces red dot sighting technology for members of the military, as well as hunters and sport shooters. Aimpoint, whose U.S. headquarters has been in the county since 2016, will be consolidated into Sandberg’s new facility.
The 87,565-square-foot office and advanced manufacturing facility at 9349 Hornbaker Road across from the FBI’s Northern Virginia Resident Agency, to be built in two phases over four years, will have capacity to expand 48,330 square feet.
“Our United States headquarters will provide our North American businesses with a world class facility and serve as a landing point for additional portfolio companies expanding to the U.S. market,” Sandberg President Matthew Casciano said in a statement. “We are excited to build a four-story, Scandinavian-inspired office space with energy-efficient materials that will house advanced manufacturing, robotics and collaborative workspaces for our employees. This project demonstrates our group’s commitment to the U.S. market and we truly appreciate all the support received from Prince William County.”
Prince William County supervisors approved a $1.6 million Economic Development Opportunity Fund grant and agreed to sell Sandberg approximately 11 acres of county-owned land between Hornbaker Road and Prince William Parkway for $14.3 million to support the project.
