Financial services firm to move into new building in second half of 2027

Financial services and investment firm Davenport & Co. plans to relocate its headquarters from One James Center in downtown Richmond to Henrico County‘s Kinsale Center, just outside the city limits, next year.
The move to 2035 Maywill St. is slated for the second half of 2027. Financial terms of Davenport’s lease were not disclosed.
Kinsale Center is an ongoing roughly $500 million mixed-use redevelopment on Staples Mill Road named for insurer Kinsale Capital Group, which moved its headquarters into the former Anthem building in late 2025 following renovations. The redevelopment project spans more than 35 acres along the Staples Mill and West Broad Street corridor.
Davenport said it will occupy nearly 100,000 square feet across multiple floors of the building on Maywill Street, which was completed in 2020. The company said the new location will offer clients more convenient access while providing employees with a modern, collaborative work environment.
After the move, the office will be branded as the Davenport Building, although it will continue to house other tenants, the company said.
The relocation marks the fourth headquarters site in Davenport’s history. The company has been headquartered at One James Center since 1992. Before that, the firm was based in the Ross Building at Eighth and Main streets from 1967 to 1992, after spending more than a century at its original location at 113 E. Main St.
Founded in 1863, Davenport operates 25 locations across Virginia, North Carolina, Georgia and Maryland. The employee-owned firm has more than 500 associates, including 216 financial advisers, and provides wealth management, retirement and financial planning, insurance and public finance services to individuals, corporations, institutions and municipalities.
