Lynchburg-based nuclear components and fuel manufacturer BWX Technologies announced Monday that it has completed its acquisition of Pennsylvania-based manufacturer Precision Components Group, adding more than 500,000 square feet of U.S. heavy-manufacturing capacity and a workforce of more than 450 employees.
The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, and BWXT did not immediately return requests for comment. The acquisition, first announced in April, includes PCG’s subsidiaries Precision Custom Components (PCC) and DC Fabricators (DCF). PCG manufactures complex, heavy-walled and heat-transfer components.
According to BWXT, the acquisition expands its heavy-manufacturing footprint and enhances its ability to deliver U.S.-made nuclear components for the commercial sector.
“Growing demand for reliable, carbon-free energy underscores the urgent need to strengthen the U.S. nuclear manufacturing base,” BWXT President for Commercial Operations John MacQuarrie said in a statement. “By expanding our manufacturing capabilities, we can better support reactor life-extension programs, new build activity and the long-term energy reliability our communities depend on.”
PCG will be part of BWXT’s Commercial Operations segment and continue operating at its current facilities in York, Pennsylvania, and Florence, New Jersey. PCG will also continue its existing work, including supplying components and services for Electric Boat, Bechtel Plant Machinery and other U.S. Navy programs.
It was not immediately clear what would happen to PCG leadership, or whether any changes were planned to the company’s workforce or operations.
The additional heavy-manufacturing capacity includes large-envelope machining, heavy weldments, pressure vessels, heat exchangers and American Society of Mechanical Engineers-certified component fabrication.
Before the acquisition, BWXT had approximately 10,000 employees and 17 manufacturing facilities globally. It reported more than $3.19 billion in 2025 revenue, up 18% from 2024. BWXT is a Fortune 1000 company.
