Reston-based Fortune 500 defense contractor Science Applications International Corp. (SAIC) announced Tuesday it has named Sarjoo Shah as program management director for the state and local health IT market.

With more than 25 years of experience, Shah was most recently the chief information officer with the Oklahoma Department of Health and Human Services and previously served as the Oklahoma’s chief information security officer. In his new role, he will lead new program development in the state and local health IT market.

“Sarjoo has a tremendous understanding of the unique challenges facing state and local health agencies,” Vishal Tulsian, SAIC vice president of operations, said in a statement. “As the demands on health agencies continue to grow, it will be more important than ever to ensure they have access to outstanding IT systems and practices. Adding Sarjoo’s expertise to our team will ensure that we deliver what they need to achieve their critical missions.”

Before working for the state of Oklahoma, Shah was senior director for state and local government for NTT Data and was a senior consultant with Deloitte. He graduated from the University of Bombay.

SAIC employs more than 25,000 people and has pro forma annual revenues of $7.1 billion.
