Permit issued for Amazon solar farm in Accomack County

The Virginia Department of Environmental Quality has issued a permit that will allow for the construction of an 80-megawatt solar farm in Accomack County, which will power Amazon Web Services’ data center activities.

According to a news release issued by Gov. Terry McAuliffe’s office on Monday, the plant is expected to be the largest solar facility in the mid-Atlantic.

The developer and owner of the solar facility is Community Energy.
