Mid-Atlantic CCIM Chapter names new president

The Mid-Atlantic Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM) Chapter has elected Heather Placer of Richmond-based real estate agency Shaheen, Ruth, Martin & Fonville as its chapter president, the organization announced Friday.

There are more than 13,000 members in 50 CCIM chapters globally — each focused on networking and education for real estate agents who receive the CCIM designation awarded by the CCIM Institute. CCIM candidates must complete courses, pass the CCIM Institute exam, complete an application and pay annual dues to be in a chapter.

The Mid-Atlantic chapter covers Virginia, Maryland, West Virginia and Washington, D.C. 

“My goals this year are to expand our membership and new designees, as well as provide more opportunities for local networking and education,” Placer said in a statement. “We are building events throughout our chapter coverage area that will enhance the careers of commercial investment professionals.” 

Placer is a commercial specialist with Shaheen, Ruth, Martin & Fonville and is the principal and owner of Placer Realty Advisors LLC. She has served on the Women’s Council of Realtors, the Virginia Commonwealth Chapter of the Appraisal Institute, the Board of Directors of the Appraisal Institute, the Virginia Association of Realtors Economic Advisory Board and the National Association of Realtors Real Estate Valuation Committee and Real Estate Research Committee.

Placer earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration and a master’s degree in business administration from Old Dominion University. She also holds a master’s degree in real estate valuation from Virginia Commonwealth University.
