A former assistant U.S. attorney and University of Tennessee law dean, Wilson was inducted as president of the Association of American Law Schools in January. In her inaugural address, Wilson said law school academics will continue to accomplish ambitious goals, “provided we pursue our aims tenaciously and bravely with an open mind.”

Dean of Washington and Lee’s law school since July 2022, Wilson also holds the Roy L. Steinheimer Jr. Professorship in Law, named for the former W&L law dean. The University of Georgia two-time graduate ranked 14th in The National Jurist’s 2024 list of the 20 Most Influential People in Legal Education.

A scholar on criminal procedure who has co-authored three books, Wilson was Georgia’s assistant attorney general for four years and also worked in private practice earlier in her career.

In college, Wilson played on the 1986 Southeastern Conference championship women’s golf team.

U.S. News & World Report ranked Washington and Lee’s law school 33rd in its 2024 Best Law Schools list.
