The final phase of renovations to a longstanding Virginia Beach shopping center, MarketSquare, is underway. Construction began in May on the remodeling of two retail buildings totaling 31,000 square feet. According to Cushman & Wakefield | Thalhimer and MGT Construction, the project should be done by mid-summer.

The renovation includes new design elements such as Bahamian shutters, dormer windows, a standing seam metal roof and LED lighting.

MarketSquare is the redevelopment of a 178,000-square-foot community center that was originally built in 1974. The property is located on 17.7 acres in the 2800 block of Virginia Beach Boulevard.
It recently welcomed three new anchor tenants:  Hobby Lobby, Walmart Neighborhood Market and One Life Fitness. Leasing the project are Thalhimer representatives Eric Stanley, David Machupa and Ed Kimple.

McLeskey & Associates, a commercial and residential real estate development and leasing company based in Virginia Beach, owns the center.  Prior to its new name and the repositioning that is ongoing with renovations,  it was originally known as Lynnhaven Shopping Center.
