Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughters in Virginia Beach will open the region’s second urgent-care center for infants, children and teens on Wednesday, March 16, at Loehmann’s Plaza in Virginia Beach. This follows the hospital's first center in Chesapeake, which opened last year.

“Since opening Hampton Roads’ first pediatric urgent-care in January of 2015, we have seen an increasing demand for age-appropriate, fast care for children,” CHKD President and CEO Jim Dahling said in a statement. “Our new location in Virginia Beach expands our ability to provide care for the community’s children when and where they need it.”

The $12.8 million, 28,000-square-foot center will offer care for common illnesses and injuries of childhood including colds, flu, sinus and ear infections, asthma, vomiting, diarrhea, sports and orthopedic injuries, and cuts that need stitches.

The facility also is home to other services, including sports medicine, X-ray services, lab services, and physical, occupational and speech therapy. Sports medicine services include primary-care sports medicine, sports physical therapy, injury prevention programs and sports performance training for children and teens.

Hours of operation will vary by service. CHKD urgent care, X-ray and lab services will be open from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. Monday-Friday and from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. on weekends and holidays.

Sports medicine, physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy will operate on an appointment-only basis.
