Barry N. Moore, president and CEO of the Glen Allen-based Better Business Bureau Serving Central Virginia, has announced his retirement after four years heading the nonprofit organization that rates and accredits businesses based on their market practices and trustworthiness.

Richard Johnstone, chairman of the BBB-CV Board of Directors, said in a statement, “The board of directors greatly appreciates Barry’s dedicated service and leadership over the last four years. During his tenure, he did a great job raising the profile of the BBB across Central Virginia and leading us successfully through the hardships imposed by COVID-19.”

Formerly the vice president of outreach and strategic partnerships for Liberty University, Moore also was director of management and professional development for Virginia Tech’s Pamplin College of Business and served as a U.S. Marine Corps public affairs director and a combat engineer officer.

BBB-CV’s chief financial officer, Thomas Gelozin, will serve as interim CEO while the board searches for Moore’s successor.
