Chantilly-based contractor American Systems has named Peter Whitfield as its chief financial officer, effective June 24.
Whitfield was most recently CFO of Vienna-based Shared Spectrum Co., a technology services firm. He will succeed American System’s CFO, Mark Danisewicz, who is retiring July 10.
American Systems says Whitfield has more than 30 years of experience in the financial and accounting world. He has held executive leadership positions at UNICOM Government Inc. (formerly GTSI), InPhonic, Morgan Franklin, Broadwing Inc. and MCI.
Whitfield earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Pace University.
American Systems serves government customers. It has about 1,400 employees nationwide.
