Zachary Lauer succeeds Adam Zambanini, now president and CEO

Winchester-based , a publicly traded and railing manufacturer, has promoted Zachary C. Lauer, previously senior vice president of and , to senior vice president and chief operations officer.

Lauer succeeds Adam D. Zambanini, who stepped into the role of president and CEO at Trex following the April 28 retirement of Bryan H. Fairbanks, who spent 23 years with the company.

In his new role, Lauer will lead the company’s manufacturing, supply chain, engineering and research and development functions. Lauer brings to the position more than two decades of experience in operations, supply chain and manufacturing leadership, including 10 years with Trex.

“Zach’s deep operational expertise and strong track record of leadership make him the ideal choice to serve as our chief operations officer,” Zambanini said in a statement. “His ability to drive performance across manufacturing and supply chain while fostering innovation in R&D will be critical as we execute on our strategic priorities.”

Lauer joined Trex in 2016 as senior director of operational excellence. Three years later, he was promoted to vice president of supply chain and later held his most recent senior vice president title.

Before joining Trex, Lauer held numerous senior roles in supply chain, manufacturing and engineering at Atlanta-based consumer goods company Newell Brands and served as a senior manager at North Carolina-based manufacturer Rubbermaid Commercial Products, according to his LinkedIn profile. He also was a captain in the U.S. Army from 1994 to 1999.

Lauer earned a degree in aerospace engineering from the U.S. Military Academy and an MBA from Villanova University.

Trex sells products through more than 6,700 retail outlets across six continents. The company reported $1.2 billion in net sales for 2025, a 2% increase from the previous year. It has more than 1,800 employees.
