Holingsworth & Vose Co. will invest $6.1 million to add a production line to its Floyd County operations, which will create 17 new jobs.
The company, which manufactures materials for filtration, battery and industrial uses, started an operation in Virginia in 1974.
Gov. Bob McDonnell approved a $100,000 grant from the Governor’s Opportunity Fund to help Floyd with the project. The Virginia Toabacco Indemnification and Community Revitalization Commission approved $65,000 in funds for the project.
The expansion is in response to increased demand for high performance synthetic filter media.
Virginia competed against Georgia and Massachusetts for the project.
