Arlington County-based defense technology company GRVTY plans to invest $8 million to open a new headquarters in Tysons and hire 200 workers, Gov. Abigail Spanberger announced Tuesday.
The company will build out more than 22,000 square feet of office space at 8270 Greensboro Drive in Tysons. In addition to this expansion, GRVTY plans to hire 200 engineers, technologists, scientists and corporate staff in Virginia.
“GRVTY is pleased to invest in Fairfax County with the opening of our new headquarters in Tysons,” CEO Katie Selbe said in a statement. “This facility will serve as the company’s hub to drive operational excellence, engage with customers and advance the development of critical technologies in cyber, space and spectrum.”
The company, which has only been in operation for about a year, provides software, data analytics and intelligence services to U.S. defense and intelligence agencies.
According to the governor’s office, the company has roughly 1,000 employees. Selbe was previously chief operating officer at Eqlipse Technologies and BlueHalo, two other Arlington Capital-owned businesses, and before that was employed for more than 15 years at Northrop Grumman.
“Congratulations to GRVTY on its rapid scaling — an incredible testament to the commonwealth’s world-class talent and proximity to innovators, customers and decision-makers,” Spanberger said in a statement.
The Virginia Economic Development Partnership worked with Fairfax County to secure the project. Spanberger approved an $800,000 grant from the Commonwealth’s Opportunity Fund, and the company will also receive workforce training support through the Virginia Jobs Investment Program.
A timeline for the expansion was not provided and the company did not immediately return requests for comment.
