Reston government contractor to perform maintenance work on Stryker combat vehicles

The U.S. Army awarded Reston-based government contractor General Dynamics Corp.’s land systems division a five-year contract worth up to $428.2 million to perform maintenance work on the Army’s Stryker combat vehicles, the U.S. Department of Defense announced Monday.
Under the contract, General Dynamics will provide equipment training, maintenance and fielding services, according to the DoD. Work locations and funding will be determined by each order under the contract — with an expected completion date of July 31, 2025, according to the DoD.
The Stryker vehicle has 18 variants and is designed to travel 330 miles at a speed of up to 60 mph. The vehicles are equipped with a 30-millimeter cannon, according to the Army.
The Army Contracting Command received only two bids for the project, according to the DoD. General Dynamics and its divisions are currently working on several multimillion dollar contracts, including the largest contract ever awarded by the Navy — a $22 billion multiyear order for nine (or potentially 10) nuclear-powered, fast-attack submarines capable of launching Tomahawk missiles.
