Falls Church company to provide IT infrastructure security services

U.S. General Service Administration awarded Falls Church-based General Dynamics Information Technology Inc. (GDIT) a $761.6 million contract to update and secure information technology infrastructure that supports the U.S. Southern Command mission.
Under the Southern Command’s (SOUTHCOM) Cyber Information Technology Enterprise Services (SCITES) contract, GDIT will provide global enterprise IT and digital modernization services to improve secure information sharing and operational efficiency. The Southern Command mission works to deter aggression, defeat threats and respond to security crises.
“This new award demonstrates GDIT’s continued dedication to the Combatant Commands and Joint Task Forces,” GDIT Senior Vice President of Defense Leigh Palmer said in a statement. “Through this contract, GDIT will modernize the Command’s IT infrastructure through innovation and emergent technology, delivering advanced security and transformational results to its mission.”
Specific services will include installation, operations and maintenance of a cybersecurity system provider, cloud computing, edge computing, multiple X as a Service solutions and software development.
GDIT is a subsidiary company of Reston-based General Dynamics Corp., a Fortune 500 aerospace and defense contractor with products in business aviation, combat vehicles, weapons systems and munitions, IT services, C4ISR solutions and shipbuilding and ship repair. The company employs 100,000 people worldwide and reported $39.4 billion in revenue last year.
