Chatham-based Davenport Energy Inc. has purchased two fuel oil companies from Roanoke-based Petroleum Marketers Inc.
The purchase price of APB Whiting Oil Co. in Roanoke and Whiting Jamison Oil Co. in Covington was not disclosed.
APB Whiting and Whiting Jamison provide heating oil as well as other petroleum products for residential and commercial customers. APB Whiting also offers furnace, boiler, burner and air conditioning services.
“This expansion will allow us to add heating oil products and service with plans to eventually offer propane in Covington and throughout the Alleghany Highlands and into West Virginia,” Lewis E. Wall Jr., Davenport’s president and CEO, said in a statement.
The acquired companies employ 20 people, which will become part of Davenport Energy. Eventually, APB and Whiting Jamison will be rebranded Davenport Energy.
Davenport plans to relocate its Granby Street office in Roanoke to APB Whiting’s location on Starkey Road Roanoke. It will keep Whiting Jamison’s office on Locust Street in Covington.
Davenport is a propane and heating oil company that was founded in 1941. It has provided propane delivery in Roanoke, Blacksburg and Christiansburg since 2011.
