Charlottesville-based UVA Community Credit Union has completed its merger with Warrenton-based Northern Piedmont Federal Credit Union.
UVA Community now has assets of more than $745 million and a membership of more than 70,000. The company said that all accounts held by Northern Piedmont have been integrated into its core banking system.
Membership in the credit union is open to people who live, work, or own a business in Charlottesville or Albemarle, Culpeper, Fauquier, Fluvanna, Greene, Louisa, Madison, Nelson, Orange or Rappahannock counties.
Northern Piedmont has two branches in Warrenton, which will remain open.
The merger was approved by the boards of both credit unions in August. The State Corporation Commission approved the merger plan in December.
