Cathay Pacific Airlines will launch nonstop service Sept. 16 between Hong Kong and Washington Dulles international airports.
The move is expected to bring nearly $30 million in direct and $52 million total economic impact annually to Virginia, according to Gov. Terry McAuliffe’s office.
The airline will offer four nonstop, roundtrip flights per week.
The new route is one of several nonstop options from Virginia to Asia. In July, Air India launched a new nonstop flight to Dulles from New Delhi. In 2014, Air China’s began offering nonstop service from Beijing to Dulles.
Cathay Pacific offers more than 100 flights per week from six cities in the U.S. and two in Canada. The airline offers flights to Hong Kong and beyond, including more than 22 destinations in mainland China.
