BMK Ventures to move, expand in Va. Beach

Virginia Beach-based BMK Ventures Inc. plans to invest about $6.9 million in a new headquarters elsewhere in the city and add 20 jobs.

The company, which provides medical supplies to government customers including the military, first responders and others, will move from its location at 1112 Jensen Drive to Corporate Landing Business Park, between General Booth Boulevard and Dam Neck Road, where it plans to buy about 3.5 acres and build a 39,000-square-foot headquarters, according to a news release from the Virginia Beach Department of Economic Development.

The company, which currently has 10 employees, received a $169,000 grant from the city’s economic development to assist with the move and expansion.

“BMK Ventures Inc. appreciates the partnership and support of the Virginia Beach Development Authority,” CEO Pete Campbell said in a statement. “This partnership and building project will enable our small business to continue to grow and better serve our military, federal, law enforcement and first responder customers.”

A certified service-disabled veteran-owned small business, BMKV will spend about $700,000 on the purchase of the land. Its total investment includes real estate, machinery, tools and other fixtures.

“Our rapid growth and a new building helps us hire more veterans and provide a state-of-the-art facility to continue our important mission of ‘serving those that serve us,’” BMKV President Mike Whetstone said.
