A University of Georgia and University of Miami graduate, Leon co-founded First Commercial Real Estate Services, which was purchased in the early 1990s by S.L. Nusbaum — a realty company founded in 1906.
When the late Alan B. Nusbaum, great-grandson of the founder, became the company’s chairman in 1991, Leon was named president. He continues in the role, later adding chairman and CEO to his title. He oversees a business that reported more than $400 million in completed transactions in 2021.
S.L. Nusbaum serves the Southeast and mid-Atlantic regions, manages 35,000 multifamily units and has developed more than 7.3 million square feet of commercial real estate.
Leon has served on numerous community boards, including Reinvent Hampton Roads, the Downtown Norfolk Council, the Hampton Roads Community Foundation, the Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughters and the United Jewish Federation
of Tidewater.
