Friedrich has worked for Swiss equipment manufacturer Liebherr Group for almost 20 years, and after holding management roles in Saudi Arabia, South Africa and Switzerland, he joined Liebherr’s U.S. operations in 2021 as its managing director and director of the global company’s earthmoving and material handling technology. He also serves as a divisional director for construction equipment.
Liebherr has more than 600 employees in the U.S. and 50,000 employees worldwide. Its Newport News facilities underwent a $60 million expansion that was finished in 2020.
A graduate of the Fontys Venlo University of Applied Sciences in the Netherlands, Friedrich said in March that he anticipates strong sales in 2023, after Liebherr’s U.S. sales set a record in 2022, exceeding $2 billion, up 21% from the previous year.
