Since 2022, Schleicher has led the not-for-profit utility serving nearly 180,000 metered customers in Prince William, Loudoun, Fairfax, Fauquier, Stafford and Clark counties, the City of Manassas Park and the Town of Clifton.
With $1.2 billion in total assets and total revenues of more than $990 million in 2022, NOVEC is one of the largest cooperatives in the nation. Schleicher assumed NOVEC’s top role after the retirement of Stan Feuerberg, who led NOVEC for 30 years. Schleicher has more than 40 years of utility experience under his belt. An electric engineering grad of Drexel University with an MBA from the University of Scranton, Schleicher worked with PPL Electric Utilities in Pennsylvania for more than 30 years, followed by an executive role at EnergyUnited EMC in North Carolina.
In 2022, NOVEC implemented a new online portal to assist customers in managing accounts and payments. In April, the utility suffered a setback in plans to sell renewable energy credits from its 50-megawatt NOVEC Energy Production Halifax County Biomass Plant, after legislation that would have allowed the cooperative to sell credits didn’t make it out of the Virginia State Senate.
