A $35 million renovation project at Rosslyn City Center in Arlington will transform an 84,000-square foot space into a place for all-day dining, working and socializing, real estate lender American Real Estate Partners (AREP) announced Wednesday.
AREP will complete the renovation at 1700 N. Moore St., where DMK Restaurants co-founder David Morton and his partner Scott Gidwitz will anchor the office, retail and transit hub with 29,000 square feet of space. The new space is expected to open in spring 2021.
“As we reimagine Rosslyn City Center, David and Scott have envisioned and will create the food and dining experience that will be a central focus for Rosslyn’s residents, tenants and visitors,” AREP Principal and Chief Operating Officer Paul Schulman said in a statement. “We share a passion for creating a sense of place that delights and inspires and look forward to inviting the community to safely enjoy a one-of-a-kind epicurean experience.”
Espresso, wines and prepared foods will be offered on the first level adjacent to the Metro station, while the second floor will consist of seven other dining options including an oyster bar, coffee bar and diner. The second floor will also include a bar, full-service dining area, communal work space and outdoor seating. The renovations will also include a 30,000-square-foot Gold’s Gym.
“This refreshing take on dining is as unique and inspired as the people that live and work in the D.C. metro area,” Morton said in a statement. “Our goal is to provide a public space where guests and the community can gather, work, explore, unplug and recharge safely during the pandemic and beyond. We are thrilled to be working with AREP to bring this passion project to life, and we cannot think of a better place for this concept than in Rosslyn.”
Other partners for the Rosslyn City Center project include Cooper Carry, interior designer Karen Herold of Studio K, Wow & Flutter, Friction Design and DPR Construction. Founded in 2003, AREP is an operating partner focused on office and mixed-use development in the mid-Atlantic region. It currently oversees 10 million square feet of assets.
