Arlington-based Cobham Advanced Electronic Solutions (CAES) announced last week it has hired David Young as its chief technology officer.

Young most recently served as vice president of advanced program development at Lockheed Martin Space. In his new role, he will work with the company’s four operating divisions on the technical roadmap and business strategies. He will also oversee research and prototyping.

“As an accomplished aerospace and defense industry veteran, David’s technology and business strategy expertise and acumen will be instrumental in helping CAES deliver on next generation solutions that both anticipate and address our customers’ challenging needs for their missions,” CAES CEO Mike Kahn said in a statement.

Young has also previously served as the sector vice president of business development and strategy with Northrop Grumman Corp. He earned his bachelor’s degrees in both aeronautical engineering and physics from Clarkson University and his master’s degree and doctorate of philosophy in aerospace engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology.

Founded in 1934, CAES provides analog and radiation hardened technology for the U.S. aerospace and defense industry. The company employs more than 3,600 people in the U.S., United Kingdom and Sweden.
