Chantilly-based government contractor Amentum announced Tuesday that it has won a suite of new contracts worth up to $730 million from Électricité de France, a multinational electric utility owned by the French government.
The contracts expand the services Amentum provides for the United Kingdom‘s existing nuclear power reactors and to support the ongoing construction of a new gigawatt-scale nuclear power station at Hinkley Point in Somerset, England.
“This award advances our strategy to accelerate the growth of our nuclear energy business in line with the opportunities being created by the worldwide nuclear resurgence,” Amentum Senior Vice President Loren Jones, head of Amentum’s Energy & Environment-International business, said in a statement.
Amentum said more than 1,000 U.K.-based specialists will work on the project. In 2015, Amentum signed a lifetime enterprise agreement with EDF to provide services for the utility’s U.K. nuclear fleet, including licensing, design, construction, modeling and analysis services, and laboratory and engineering test facilities.
The new contracts include ten-year service agreements to support the Hinkley Point C project — a large nuclear power station that’s being built in Somerset — and EDF’s existing nuclear operations, along with a five-year agreement to provide project management support for station operations, life-extension work and preparation for decommissioning.
With $8.4 billion in 2024 revenue, Amentum has approximately 50,000 employees in more than 70 countries across all seven continents. The company was founded as a spinout of AECOM’s Management Services Group in 2020 and moved its headquarters from Germantown, Maryland, to Chantilly.
Amentum did not immediately return requests for comment.
