Virginia and West Virginia sites of National College will change their names to American National University this fall.
National College campuses in Charlottesville, Danville, Harrisonburg, Lynchburg and Martinsville are affected by the name change being conducted by Roanoke-based American National University, a for-profit school.
“The continued development of academic programs and professional training offerings in our Virginia and West Virginia campuses reflect the same evolutionary process behind the transition of our flagship Roanoke Valley campus to university status,” American National University President Frank Longaker said in a statement. “As National College continues to evolve, we look forward to more of our campuses making this transition in coming months.”
Founded in 1886 as a business college, American National University offers more than 45 academic programs including a master of business administration, seven bachelor’s degrees, and numerous associate degree and diploma programs.
