Fairfax-based engineering consulting firm Dewberry announced Tuesday that Dave Mahoney, an executive vice president based in the company’s Fairfax office, has been appointed to the Construction Industry Round Table’s (CIRT) board of directors.
As a board member, Mahoney will work with other industry professionals in the design and construction industry and help members improve management performance of their individual companies. CIRT works to influence public policy to better the industry for its public and private clients and provides a network for education purposes.
“I am thrilled to be appointed to this role on the board of directors,” Mahoney said in a statement. “CIRT plays a critical role in the design and construction industry by supporting its members and representing the industry on public policy issues.”
With more than 35 years of experience, Mahoney oversees the firm’s transportation department. He has focused his work on high-traffic roadways and interchanges, including the Dulles Metrorail Corridor in Northern Virginia and the Intercounty Connector in suburban Maryland.
Mahoney earned his bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from South Dakota State University. He is also a member of the American Road & Transportation Builders Association, American Public Works Association, Dulles Area Transportation Association and the Design Build Institute of America.
Founded in 1956, Dewberry offers engineering, geospatial, survey, mapping, environmental and construction services to government and commercial clients. The company employs a total of 2,000 people across more than 50 locations. Last year, it reported $470.8 million in revenue. In late July, the company announced it would provide quality assurance services for the entire $3.8 billion Hampton Roads Bridge-Tunnel (HRBT) project — the largest construction project in Virginia and the Virginia Department of Transportation’s (VDOT) history.
