The investor and operator of the 495 Express Lanes is moving its U.S. headquarters from New York to Fairfax County.

The company has closed its small New York office to focus on operations of the 495 Express Lanes, its dynamic tolling project on the Capital Beltway, and the 95 Express Lanes that are currently under construction.

The headquarters move does not include a transfer of any jobs.

Transurban’s Fairfax headquarters employs 50 people and supports another 60 jobs at the Express Lanes Operations Center.

The company is currently in the process of transferring its ownership of the Pocahontas Parkway 895 to the highway’s lenders. In 2006, the company purchased the highway, but traffic estimates have been far lower than expected. The company wrote the roadway off as a loss last year and is working to transfer ownership to lenders by October 2013.
