A Walmart Neighborhood Market store is coming to Waynesboro.
According to Cushman & Wakefield | Thalhimer, which represented Walmart Neighborhood Market in its recent land purchase in the city, the store is planned on about 5.4 acres at 1221 W. Broad Street.
Walmart purchased the land from Jerry F. and Dorothy M. Ponds for $2.17 million. Typically, Walmart’s neighborhood stores are about 40,000 square feet. The company also has one of its larger Walmart Supercenter stores in Waynesboro.
Walmart has been expanding its number of neighborhood markets and even smaller Walmart Express stores. Last year, it had about 407 stores in this category.
Lee Warfield and Pete Waldbauer of Thalhimer’s Richmond office handled the sale negotiations on behalf of Walmart and Millennium Venture Group.
