Virginia sees nearly 1K increase in COVID-19 cases in 24 hours

Total confirmed cases now above 16,000; 572 deaths related to virus

The Virginia Department of Health reported Friday that there are 16,109 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Virginia, as well as 572 deaths and 2,407 people hospitalized who have tested positive. This is an increase of 929 confirmed cases in the past 24 hours, not counting 792 probable cases. As of Friday, 105,648 people have been tested in Virginia.

VDH has updated its dashboard to include more information about cases in localities and an overall trend in the number of cases reported statewide since the start of the outbreak.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, there are now 1,031,659 confirmed cases nationwide as of April 30, including 60,057 deaths.
