Virginia reported 542 new confirmed COVID-19 cases Friday, bringing the state’s total to 11,169 confirmed cases, not including 425 probable cases.

As U.S. COVID-19 deaths surpassed 50,000, Virginia has reported 410 deaths attributable to the pandemic and 1,829 Virginians are hospitalized from the coronavirus.

Fairfax County alone has 2,534 cases, the most of any locality statewide. In other Northern Virginia localities, there are 1,110 reported cases in Prince William County, 722 in Arlington County, 529 in Loudoun County, 547 in Alexandria and 193 in Stafford County. In Central Virginia, there are 729 reported cases in Henrico County, 423 in Chesterfield County, 267 in Richmond and 100 in Hanover County. In Hampton Roads, there are 331 reported cases in Virginia Beach,  197 cases in Chesapeake, 150 in James City County, 141 in Norfolk, 107 in Newport News, 99 in Hampton, 138 in Suffolk and 100 in Portsmouth.

Forty-nine of the state’s COVID-19 deaths have occurred at Canterbury Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center, a nursing home in Henrico County.

Statewide, 69,015 people have been tested for the coronavirus and there have been 176 outbreaks statewide, with 98 of those occurring in long-term care facilities and nursing homes, accounting for 1,009 cases and 80 deaths.

Globally, there are 2.76 million confirmed COVID-19 cases, with 193,671 deaths worldwide. The United States, which has the reported the most COVID-19 cases and deaths, had 880,112 confirmed cases as of April 24, and 50,114 deaths across the nation. More than 16,000 of those deaths have occurred in New York City.
