University of Richmond’s Westhampton College Dean Juliette Landphair is leaving for a new role at the University of Mary Washington.
Landphair will become vice president of student affairs at the University of Mary Washington, effective Aug. 10. Her last day at the University of Richmond is Aug. 3.
Landphair has been working at the University of Richmond since 1999, when she became assistant director of the Women Involved in Living and Learning (WILL) program.
Since 2003, she has been dean of Westhampton College. Westhampton is the university’s college for undergraduate women.
Steve Bisese, vice president for student development at the University of Richmond, said in a letter to alumni that Landphair had accomplished much during her tenure, including: overseeing the Westhampton College Dean’s Office expansion, helping improve institutional retention efforts resulting in a first-to-second year retention rise from 88 percent to 94 percent, and co-chairing a task force that created the university’s Academic Advising Center. Last year she co-chaired the 100th anniversary celebration that brought together 1,000 Westhampton alumni and students.
“In my role, I am able to witness the countless hours she puts in, above and beyond the call of duty, to support students in crisis,” Bisese said in his email. “I regularly receive testimonials from students, appreciative of the impact she has had upon their lives.”
Kerry Fankhauser, associate dean of Westhampton College and Deputy Title IX Coordinator, will serve as interim dean.
