UiPath donates $16.4M in software licenses to GMU business school

New York City-based software developer UiPath has donated $16.4 million in software licenses to George Mason University’s School of Business for students to learn robotic process automation (RPA) technologies, the university announced Wednesday.

RPA configures computer software for users to integrate human interaction actions in digital systems for business processes. With RPA, robots can capture data and manipulate applications so that other systems can perform repetitive tasks. 

UiPath’s donation includes 8,200 three-year licenses — valued at $2,000 each for students — which will accommodate Mason’s School of Business, which has more than 5,000 undergraduate and graduate students.

“This game-changing contribution of RPA software and support from UiPath will be a valuable complement to the school’s focus on the future of work, and will help our students gain insight into new models for business,” Maury Peiperl, dean of Mason’s School of Business, said in a statement. “The opportunity for students and faculty to work with innovators like UiPath is of immense benefit to all involved.”

UiPath software is already a part of Mason’s business curriculum in the introduction to business information systems course required for all undergraduate business students. Its software will also be used in advanced accounting analytics lessons.
