The University of Virginia School of Architecture has announced a $20 million gift, its largest ever, on the eve of its 100th anniversary celebration.
The donation, an anonymous bequest, will create three endowed funds to support an international travel program, two professorships in architectural history and fellowships for doctoral and graduate students.
Observance of the school’s 100th anniversary is set to begin today. Anniversary events this weekend will include tours, open houses, panel discussions, exhibitions and receptions.
Begun in 1919, the school has more than 600 students enrolled. It offers undergraduate, master’s and doctoral degrees.
