Two Northern Virginia defense contractors have won multi-million
dollar contracts. McLean-based Science Applications International Corp.
(SAIC) was awarded a $202 million NASA contract while Arlington-based
Accenture Federal Services, landed a $42.2 million U.S. Air force contract.
SAIC will provide safety and mission assurance engineering support at
NASA’s Johnson Space Center in Houston and the White Sands Test
Facility near Las Cruces, N.M. NASA’s Johnson Space Center focuses on
human space exploration missions. The White Sands Test Facility is a
resource for testing and evaluating potentially hazardous materials and components.
In the two-year, $42.2 million U.S. Air force contract, SAIC will
continue to improve the agency’s financial management system. The
contract supports the second phase of continued development for the
Defense Enterprise Accounting and Management System, the Air Force’s
principal financial transformation initiative.
