Truist names three Virginia regional bank presidents

Truist Financial Corp., the Charlotte, North Carolina-based mega bank created in December following the merger of BB&T and SunTrust, announced Tuesday it has named 24 regional presidents, three of whom will oversee the Virginia market.

“Our ability to leverage our unique community model with its decentralized, regional structure combined with deep industry and banking expertise immediately sets Truist apart from our larger competitors and allows us to operate on a more personal level with individual and business clients, providing them with the kind of attention they expect from a hometown bank,” said David H. Weaver, Truist’s commercial community bank executive, in a statement.

Roanoke, Richmond and the Greater Washington, D.C., region (including Northern Virginia) will be headed by Truist regional presidents David Camden, Dan O’Neill and Evelyn Lee respectively.

Based in Roanoke, Camden was selected as the regional president for Truist’s Virginia-West region. He served as president and CEO of the Savannah region for SunTrust Bank since 2014 and has been working in the banking industry for 33 years. He earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from Hampden-Sydney College and graduated from the Virginia Bankers School of Bank Management.

Lee will oversee the Greater Washington, D.C., region — including part of Northern Virginia. She previously worked with SunTrust for 19 years and was senior vice president and head of senior living/aging services for the wholesale banking practice. She holds a bachelor’s degree from the College of William & Mary and is a past treasurer of the board of the World Affairs Council of D.C.

O’Neill was tapped as president of Truist’s Virginia-East region, based in Richmond. He was formerly president of SunTrust’s Mid-Atlantic region since 2015 and has worked in the banking industry for 33 years, 28 of which he spent with SunTrust. He earned a master’s of business administration in finance from Fordham University, a bachelor’s degree from Holy Cross and completed an advanced risk management program at the University of Pennsylvania Wharton School of Business.
