Transportation 2023: PETER LEVESQUE

Levesque, an international global supply chain executive with more than 30 years of industry leadership experience, assumed the presidency of both CMA CGM America and APL following Ed Aldridge’s December 2022 retirement.

Levesque was previously president of Ports America and spent 25 years based in Hong Kong. He has held executive positions at international transportation, logistics and supply chain companies such as Modern Terminals, CEVA Logistics and DHL.

French shipping company CMA CGM is the world’s third largest container shipper. Its U.S. divisions headed by Levesque have about 22,000 U.S. employees across 22 ports, including 880 employees in Virginia. In 2021, CMA CGM announced plans to expand in Norfolk, creating 400 jobs and investing $36 million.

A graduate of the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth, Northwestern University and the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Levesque authored “The Shipping Point: The Rise of China and the Future of Retail Supply Chain Management” in 2011, and the 2022 thriller “Two if By Sea,” in which a “wave of gruesome executions in Shanghai cripples a top-secret CIA operation in China and points to an informant who has been selling secrets in Hong Kong.”
