Time’s shortlist candidates for the 2016 “Person of the Year” includes a Virginia resident.
Virginia Tech professor Marc Edwards is nominated along with Dr. Mona Hanna-Attisha, and other residents of Flint, Mich., for bringing attention to the lead-poisoned water in that city.
They are among 11 finalists, including President-elect Donald J. Trump, singer Beyoncé Knowles and Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg. The winner will be announced Wednesday morning on the “Today” show and on Time.com.
Edwards and Hanna-Attisha already have received a coveted Time honor. Earlier this year they were named to the publication’s list of the world’s “100 Most Influential People.”
Virginia Business interviewed Edwards earlier this year, where he discussed his work in Flint. Click here to view the story.
