A massive sports and entertainment center has opened in Springfield.
The St. James, a 450,000-square-foot complex, includes a FIFA regulation-sized turf field; two NHL regulation-sized ice rinks and an Olympic-sized pool. It also offers a health club and spa.
The 20-acre St. James was co-founded by Kendrick Ashton and Craig Dixon and backed by real estate investment firm Cain International. A second location is expected to open in the Chicago suburbs in early 2021. The goal is to bring the concept to other places around the country.
A restaurant and café, water park and retail store also are scheduled to open in November. Additionally, a health and sports medicine center will open next spring. MedStar will provide general and non-emergency health care services, including sports medicine and sports rehabilitation.
