Regency Square has hired Steven Bonniville as its general manager. Bonniville was previously facilities director for the Henrico County shopping mall from 2009 through 2012.
He will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations, retailer and community relations and marketing and leasing.
Bonniville has more than 10 years of experience in the retail industry.
He is a former general manager of Stony Point Fashion Park in Richmond.
Bonniville becomes Regency’s chief executive at a time when new local owners are trying to reposition and revitalize the 40-year-old, 450,000-square-foot enclosed mall. Thalhimer Realty Partners Inc. and The Rebkee Co. teamed up to acquire the mall last month. They purchased the property from LNK Partners LC, based in Miami, a special servicer that took over the loan when it moved into default.
Regency Square is part of an 820,000-square-foot retail center located on 50-plus acres off Parham Road. The Michigan-based Taubman Centers owned Regency from 1997 until December 2011 when it turned the property over to the lender to avoid foreclosure rather than continue to pay on its loan.
“The future of Regency Square is bright, and I’m excited to be part of the team that will get us there”, Bonniville said in a statement.
The mall is managed by Cushman & Wakefield | Thalhimer.
