Snagajob, a Richmond-based online network for hourly jobs, is about to get a new CEO.

Peter Harrison, the former head of McLean-based GlobalLogic, will succeed Snagajob founder Shawn Boyer in April.

Boyer will become chairman of the company, a role he says will allow him to focus on strategic initiatives, corporate development and client relationships.

Boyer said the company may offer its stock to the public in an initial public offering in the next two to three years. He said the privately held company is profitable and continues to grow rapidly.

Snagajob is one of the top online work force websites in the country and is the leading site for hourly jobs. It has more than 200 employees.

Boyer, 41, launched the site in 2000. He was named the U.S. Small Business Person of the Year in 2008. Virginia Business named him Virginia Business Person of the Year in 2009.

Harrison served as CEO of GlobalLogic as the technology company grew from 20 employees to more than 6,000 from 2002 to 2012. He currently is vice chairman of GlobalLogic’s board of directors.

In a phone interview, Boyer said he began looking for a CEO about six to seven months ago. He was seeking someone who had experience with IPOs and international business, had a deep software background and had scaled up a company to many times its original size.

“I don’t have any of those things,” Boyer said with a laugh, but he notes Harrison does.

Moving to the chairman’s role, Boyer said, will allow him to work on areas that suit his strengths as an executive.

He emphasized that the move was not a sign of any intention of leaving Snagajob. “I still have a very strong emotional connection” and a big financial investment in the company, he said. ”I’ll be there every single day.”

Boyer said the company has no timetable for going public but added an IPO is “definitely on the road map,” possibly taking place within the next three years.

Snagajob serves more than 40 million registered job seekers. It has processed more than 150 million applications for 45,000 employers.

In 2009, the company expanded to offer hiring software solutions through an integrated talent management system. It is now in use at more than 5,000 locations nationwide
