Pennsylvania-based Sheetz Inc. gas stations and convenience stores will start providing free lunches for children in need at 21 locations in Virginia on Thursday, April 2. The program is set to last for two weeks, but the company says it will evaluate community need and will extend the program if need persists.
Sheetz is running the “Kidz Meal Bagz” program at 294 stores in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Ohio, North Carolina, Virginia and West Virginia. The meal will include a turkey sandwich, chips and a drink, and families interested in taking part can go to participating locations and ask an employee at the register for a meal. They’ll be offered one bag per child, according to the store’s news release.
