Amazon is teaming up with two of the largest public colleges in Northern Virginia, in terms of total enrollment, to offer a bachelor’s degree in cloud computing.
Last fall, the internet giant partnered with Northern Virginia Community College to create an associate degree in cloud computing. Next year, students will be able to earn a bachelor’s degree in the field at Fairfax-based George Mason University.
Amazon said the degree offers students a pathway from a two-year associate degree to a four-year bachelor’s degree, which will help meet the needs of Amazon and other employers. Amazon already has a major presence in Northern Virginia. The company is locating its second headquarters in the area and its cloud computing division also is located in the region.
