San Diego-based private investment firm Halo Partners announced Wednesday that it has acquired Chesterfield County-based rigging company W.O. Grubb Crane Rental.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Founded in 1962, Grubb provides crane, rigging, warehousing, logistics and engineering services in the mid-Atlantic region, serving industrial, data center and infrastructure customers. It operates through 13 branches and employs approximately 450 people.
For decades, the company was run under the leadership of the Grubb family, beginning with founder Willie O. Grubb and after 1985 by his son, Bill Grubb. Bill Grubb died in 2024, after a long battle with illness.
“This company was built on integrity, hard work, safety and strong relationships,” Grubb President Michael Good said in a statement. “That legacy will continue to guide everything we do under new ownership. I have personally known the principals at Halo for over a decade, and I am excited to partner with them to seek to accelerate our growth trajectory from the foundation the Grubb family and our management team have built to date. Halo understands what makes this company special, and its team shares our commitment to protecting our culture while supporting long-term success.”
Halo said it would invest in Grubb, providing additional capital and resources to support expansion, technology upgrades and fleet investments.
“We are thrilled to partner with such a high-caliber company and support its journey into an exciting new stage of growth,” Halo Principal Juan Valdez said in a statement.
According to Halo, Grubb’s leadership team, employees and operational structure will remain in place, which it said would ensure continuity with customers, partners and suppliers.
Halo did not immediately return a request for comment. The company invests primarily in middle-market companies.
