One of the oldest shopping centers in Hampton’s Coliseum Central District has been sold for $24.9 million.
The sale, announced by Harvey Lindsay Commercial Real Estate in Norfolk, is the first step in what is planned as a major renovation of the 45-acre site at 1072 W. Mercury Blvd that will include some new anchor tenants. Current tenants include JoAnn Fabrics, Bare Feet Shoes and Cinema Café 10.
Robert M. King, executive vice president, and Robert Saunders, senior vice president of Harvey Lindsay, represented the seller, Riverdale Plaza Shopping Center LLC in the transaction. The buyer, represented by S. L. Nusbaum Co. in Norfolk, was KB Riverdale LLC.
Hampton development officials announced plans last week to redevelop the center, with plans for a new 123,000-square-foot Kroger Marketplace grocery store to help anchor the project.
At Home, a national home décor and furniture store based in Plano, Texas, also plans a 91,000-square-foot store.
