LaDifference, a 34-year-old Richmond furnishings store, officially begins doing business as LaDIFF at the end of August.
“LaDiff” has long been the nickname of the company, which has a 50,000-square-foot showroom in a renovated warehouse at the corner of 14th and Dock Streets in downtown Richmond.
The store was founded by Andy Thornton in Charlottesville in 1980. He had worked in Haiti and drew the name from the country’s motto:
“Haiti, Vive La Différence!”
With the new name, LaDIFF will be unveiling a new logo designed by Elevation Marketing. It will start appearing on marketing materials at the end of the summer.
